Therianthropy is a deeply personal, involuntary identity where individuals called **therians** experience a profound inner sense of being a non-human animal. From Greek *thēríon* (beast) + *ánthrōpos* (human): "animal-person."
It is **not chosen**. It emerges, often during an "awakening" in childhood or adolescence. Therians fully understand they have human bodies; the core feeling is *"I am this animal inside,"* not pretending. The community has thrived for over three decades.
